Pub Crawl One - The Real Ale Trail

Pub Crawl One This is a good route for real ale enthusiasts. It will give you a choice of up to 25 interesting real ales from the five selected pubs.
Starting at the Boot you will have the choice of up to six real ales including Youngs Special, Deuchars IPA, and four guest ales.

Exit the Boot and walk past the Peahen down London Road for about 400 yards and go into the Farmers Boy. This is home of the Alehouse brewery that brew Farmers Joy and Yorkshire. As well as these two there will normally be two other ales offered.

The third pub is back up London Road about 200 yards and turn left at the Beehive pub. Go past the Beehive and after 50 yards you will see the third pub, the White Hart Tap. This pub can be fairly quiet but does serve some very good real ales. Expect to find London Pride, Deuchars IPA and three other unusual guest ales.

Come out of the White Hart Tap and turn right. After about 30 yards turn right into Albert Street, second right after exiting the White Hart Tap. Very soon you will come across the Garibaldi. This pub is owned by the Fullers Brewery so it will have London Pride, ESB, Chiswick and often a seasonal ale. It can be a little quiet in The Garibaldi but the beers are normally good quality.

To head to the next pub come out of the Garibaldi, turn left and then right and the White Lion is on the right, opposite the Hare and Hounds. Alternatively the rear garden of the White Lion is virtually opposite the Garibaldi so in summer this is the quickest option. The White Lion normally has six real ales on including Black Sheep and Youngs Special as standard and four ever-changing guest ales.
You have now completed The Real Ale Trail - the quickest way back to the city centre is to go back past the White Hart Tap and Beehive.
