Review
The Camp in St Albans is a large McMullans owned pub just behind the Hatfield Road, close to Morrisons, about a mile from the city centre. It is mainly frequented by locals that live in this area of the city.
As it is a McMullans pub it serves the standard AK, Country and Cask ales, all of which were available at the time of the review.
There is a small narrow patio at the front of the pub but no garden. The room to the left of the entrance consisted of a pool table, dartboard and it's own bar. The main bar area was carpeted and had the usual selection of tables, stools and seats.
Not many other pubs in the area so the Camp tends to attract a wide range of drinkers, although more middle-class people may prefer to drink elsewhere as this is a rather basic down-to-earth pub.
At the time of the visit, mid-evening on a Thursday, the pub was quite busy and the locals seemed friendly.
The Camp appears to show Sky Sports although the football season hadn't started when the pub was reviewed.
No sign of any food being available - didn't notice any menus, notices, cutlery etc.
A basic estate style pub with very average beer. Okay for a quick pint if you're passing by but not a pub to go out of the way for.
